Angus is Chair of Down Syndrome Australia as well as CEO of DMP Asset Management. Angus is a father to a young woman with Down syndrome and has been a long-time advocate for people with intellectual disabilities.

Rhonda is the Deputy Head of the School of Education at the University of Queensland and Director of the Down Syndrome Research Program. She is the Chair of the Down Syndrome Special Interest Research oc of IASSIDD and a board member of the IASSIDD Academy. She is a trustee and board member of Down Syndrome International. She has a daughter with Down syndrome.

Ruth is 26 years old and has completed a Certificate 3 in early childhood education and care. Her passion is working with children. Her dream job is to be the centre manager of her own childcare business. Ruth has travelled around the world to give presentations about Down syndrome and the things that people with Down syndrome can do. She wants more people to understand and learn more about different disabilities.

David is Chair of Down Syndrome Queensland. He is a Member of Institute of Engineers, Member of Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds an MBA from the Melbourne Business School. He and his wife Annmaree have five children, including their youngest, Sophie with Down Syndrome.

Darryl joined Down Syndrome Australia in January 2023 from his role as CEO of Down Syndrome Queensland where he led the organisation for over 7 years successfully advocating for the needs of people with Down syndrome. Darryl’s has over 20 years of experience in commercial and financial management, governance, process improvement and the leadership and management of teams. This experience, combined with being the parent of a child with a disability provides Darryl with a unique insight and perspective enabling him to successfully advocate for change for people with intellectual disabilities.

Claire Mitchell is a self-advocate and is passionate about being a voice for people with Down syndrome and other disabilities. Claire is the first Independent Director with Down syndrome on the Down Syndrome Australia Board. She is also an associate member of the Down Syndrome Advisory Network (DSAN). Claire’s main goal is to raise awareness about the contributions that people with intellectual disabilities can bring to their community, and how they can best be supported to be involved. Claire believes in having a positive attitude and that the best support outcomes happen when everyone is working together as a team.

Chris McMillan’s career path has led her through diverse industries, including two decades in the not-for-profit sector most recently as Chief Executive Officer of Cancer Council Queensland. Chris is currently Chief Executive Officer, Down Syndrome Queensland and Board Director Ozcare. She began her career in the health sector before moving into business and management.

Christine is the Operations Manager of Down Syndrome Australia. Christine is a Chartered Accountant with over 10 years’ experience gained in public practice working with clients in the not-for-profit and corporate sector.

Alyssa has held leadership roles across government, private and not-for-profit organisations. She is driven to create structural change to achieve economic and social equity, and realise wellbeing for individuals, institutions, and communities. She has managed national campaigns and projects including Raise the Rate, NAIDOC Week and universal access to reproductive healthcare. She has also served as the CEO of a charity focused on student welfare. Alyssa is currently the Chair of Better Renting, and Co-Founder of 4 Day Week Australia.
