Welcome Reception and Marketplace

Location: Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, Plaza and

Mezzanine Level

Join us for the Welcome Reception on the first evening of the Congress! It's a perfect chance to mingle with other Congress attendees in a relaxed, social setting. Enjoy delicious food and drinks while exploring the WDSC 2024 exhibition.

There you will find small businesses run by people with Down syndrome selling handmade items, unique services, and more!

Tickets: If you have a full registration, your Welcome Reception ticket is included.

Poster and Film Reception

Date: Thursday 11 July 2024

Time: 5:30pm – 9:00pm

Location: Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, Plaza Level and

Great Hall

Join us for the Poster Presentations, where you'll see some amazing work on display! After exploring the posters, grab a drink and a snack, and settle in to watch the new feature film "What About Sal" starring Gerard O’Dwyer.

What About Sal is a heart-warming story about a young man in his thirties with Down syndrome who lives with his mother and discovers she is dying from lung cancer with only months to live. What follows is a journey to find his estranged rock musician father.

Gerard O’Dwyer leads this feel-good film directed by, and co-starring, Aussie screen legend Jarratt (Wolf Creek, Picnic at Hanging Rock).

This event is is FREE.

Congress Dinner

Date: Friday 12 July 2024

Time: 6.30pm – 10:30pm

Location: Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, Plaza Ballroom

If you haven’t already, register yourself to the Congress Gala Dinner. Enjoy modern Australian cuisine, infused with Native Australian flavours, for dinner while chatting with new friends and enjoying the band. After dinner, the party begins with a DJ spinning your favourite songs so you can dance all evening. At WDSC 2024 we love to have a good time!

Self-Advocate Forum

Meet & Greet

Date: Monday 8 July 2024

Location: Southbank Beer Garden, 30ba Stanley St Plaza, South Brisbane QLD 4101

Join us for a fun, casual and FREE event for people with Down syndrome aged 18 and over. This is your chance to meet new friends before the Congress even starts!

Pre-Congress Self-Advocates Forum

Date: Tuesday 9 July 2024

Time: 10:00am – 4:00pm

Location: Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, room M3

This exciting day is for people with Down syndrome to learn new things, build skills and confidence and make friends. It's an inclusive day, designed with and for people with intellectual disability.
